Residents at Walberton Place Care Home in Walberton near Arundel have been making the most of the summer sunshine and enjoying outings and day trips. All care home residents spent many months confined to their homes but are now making the most of their summer of freedom and getting out and about as much as possible
Residents from Walberton Place have enjoyed a trip to Chichester Cathedral, they spent time admiring the beautiful stained-glass windows and learning about the history of the cathedral. Everyone enjoyed a cup of tea and slice of cake in the café before returning on the minibus to Walberton. Residents also made a trip to Hotham Park in Bognor Regis, where they made most of the summer sunshine with afternoon tea in the café whilst admiring the plants and wildlife.
“We spend lots of time planning and coordinating our residents’ day trips” explained Wellbeing Coordinator, Margaret Hodkinson. “We start by asking people if there is anywhere local that they’d like to visit. Not all our residents are local so we research what’s on locally that they might like. We use our resident’s Life History to find out about their interests and life before they came to live with us to discover places relevant to them. We also ask their families for their input and sometimes family members will join us on the trip too”.
