Lostock angels take off!
Lostock Lodge Care Home have launched a creative initiative to raise funds for a dementia charity, they are asking people in the local community to knit ‘dementia angels’. Once people have knitted their angels, they can bring them in to the care home where they will be sold to raise money for the charity. The money will be split between Dementia UK and the care home’s residents Comfort Fund which funds extra trips out and special events for residents at Lostock Lodge.
The angels have been designed with blue wings which is a colour associated with dementia and memory loss. They are on sale from Lostock Lodge Care Home and cost £3.50 each. As a thank you, anyone donating an angel is invited to have a cup of tea or coffee and cake when they come into the home to drop them off.
So far the angels have raised £90, with knitters from the local church near to the care home, Women’s Institute and local knitting shops contributing to the initiatives.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to our Dementia Angels” said Katy Viner, Customer Relations Manager at Lostock Lodge “we’ve had such a great response from all sorts of community groups as well as family members and friends at our home”.
