Lostock Lodge Care Home delighted with 'Good' CQC rating
Residents and staff at Lostock Lodge Care Home are celebrating after receiving their latest CQC Report, rating them ‘Good’ in all areas, following a recent unannounced inspection. Lostock Lodge Care Home provides long term residential and respite care for up to 66 residents in the village of Lostock Gralam near Northwich.
The report noted that the culture of the service was caring and focused on ensuring people received person-centred care that met their needs in a timely way. One relative told inspectors, “The service is excellent with care at the very forefront,” another person said, "It is noticeable here that no one is forgotten about, all credit to the staff.” Inspectors observed that positive and caring relationships had been made between residents and staff. One relative said, “I have spent a bit of time in this home and it is nice to see relationships build between residents and caring staff”.
“Our team at Lostock Lodge put our resident’s health and wellbeing at the heart of everything they do every day, we are delighted that this is reflected in the report findings,” said Alykhan Kachra, Managing Director of Country Court Care.
Operations Director, Helen Richmond was very pleased that the report highlighted the home’s clear vision, putting people at the centre of the service. “We have a lovely homely atmosphere here at Lostock Lodge, staff go above and beyond every day to ensure people feel well cared for and retain their independence.”
Residents told inspectors that they were happy living at Lostock Lodge. One person commented, “Without question, this home is well-led, just like a 5* hotel”. Residents are often asked about their care and involved in decision making, one person told inspectors “From time to time they actually ask what we think of our care and I was pleased to compliment two staff members recently”.
The inspectors also found that people were very happy with the food offered. One person commented “The Chef is very good here and knows exactly what I need in my special diet,” another person said, “I really enjoy the food, which is well cooked, varied and always a good size portion”.
The report stated that people were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests. People living at the care home had told inspectors they felt safe and received their medicines on time. One person said, “They are so diligent in making sure that I take my medicines at the right times”.
The publication of the report marks the culmination of months of effort from staff and managers to take the care home from the previous ‘Requires Improvement’ rating to now being rated ‘Good’ across all the CQC categories of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.
