Norwood Grange residents 'keep dancing' at Blackpool Tower Ballroom
Norwood Grange residents got the Strictly Come Dancing fever as their wish to dance at The Blackpool Tower Ballroom came true! As part of the Country Court Care ‘Make a Wish’ initiative care staff took two residents, Fay King (87) and Brenda Cowley (84), to Blackpool to take a spin around the dance floor and enjoy afternoon tea at the iconic Ballroom!
Activities Coordinator, Michelle Ketland was tasked with asking each resident what their wish would be; Fay who used to love dancing and even won trophies, wanted to dance again in the Blackpool tower ballroom which she had done many years ago with her late partner.
“Even though Fay now walks with a frame we were certain we could make it happen with a few little tweaks.” Said Michelle. Both ladies had a super time twirling around the floor and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon tea and the world-famous ballroom.
Brenda's wish was to walk along the sea front and go for fish and chips in Blackpool. Until coming to Norwood Grange Care Home, Brenda was part of a walking group which kept her very active both physically and socially. She is no longer able to partake in this, but enjoyed a long walk down the seafront in Blackpool, taking in the sea air and seaside atmosphere.
Both ladies were delighted to be able to take part in each other’s wish and share a wonderful experience. A great day was had by all!
