"Five years ago, my mother became a resident at the Pines in Gracewell of Hove, after 86 years living in one place and becoming a widow after 63 years of marriage. The home and especially the caring and lively staff, went a long way to fill the void. Many of those staff are still there, which is a testimony to the home's success and stability. At first, mum needed minimal care but found being looked after very reassuring and freeing. Since then, the lovely staff have nurtured, supported and entertained mum through two falls, the aftermath of a major hospitalisation, subsequent behaviour changes and the mental decline of ageing. She is known, valued and affirmed every day. Her room is bright, fresh and overlooks the park. The food is enjoyable and varied and each day she has cheerful company, interest and fresh activities. I am so grateful, the family could wish for no more and mum is happy. I would unreservedly recommend the Pines." SL - Daughter of Resident
