Dementia Action Alliance

The Dementia Action Alliance brings together organisations across England committed to transforming the lives of people with dementia and their carers. The DAA is working towards bringing about a society-wide response to dementia. At a national level the DAA has begun to shape policy and attitudes. Locally we galvanise action by coordinating and supporting Local Dementia Action Alliances. Country Court Care is signed up Nationally and continues to commit to their action plan. Dementia Friends Initiative

The Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia, targeted with creating four million Dementia Friends by 2020. Dementia Friends was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding that means many people with the condition experience loneliness and social exclusion. We need to create more communities and businesses that are dementia friendly so that people affected by dementia feel understood and included. Country Court Care have registered with this initiative and have Dementia Champions across the group, taking their lead from our Head of Dementia Care Susannah Spencer, in providing Dementia friend Sessions for all employees, residents their relatives and friends, our aspiration is to have all our employees registered as a Dementia Friend by 2020! A commitment to the Dementia Pledge will mean we will be working towards demonstrating that we can meet the four principles of the Dementia Pledge. This commitment shows that as a provider we really care about developing our workforce’s understanding of dementia and adapting our services to meet the needs of people living with dementia, it also provides guidance on the delivery of the Dementia Care and Support Compact. Dementia Care & Support Compact

The Dementia Care & Support Compact is a response to the Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia. It sets out our commitment to supporting the delivery of the National Dementia Strategy and improving care and support for people with dementia, their carers and families. By Country Court Care signing up, we pledge to challenge the perceptions surrounding social care services for people with dementia and our services will provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
