Alpaca Wish Comes True for Resident at Ferrars Hall Care Home

On Monday 4th August, Lorraine’s dream to meet an alpaca came true at Ferras Hall Care Home in Huntingdon, as part of the ‘Make a Wish’ initiative, which runs across the Country Court group.

The initiative gives residents the opportunity to enjoy meaningful experiences tailored to their interests – from boat trips and book launches to off-road driving and afternoon teas. It forms an important part of the group’s person-centred approach to care, with staff taking the time to get to know each resident’s life story and passions.

"What a surprise!"

The Wellbeing Team at Ferrars Hall commented.

“Lorraine had talked about alpacas quite a bit, so we knew how much this would mean to her. It was a lovely day and great to see how much joy it brought not just to Lorraine but to everyone in the home.

Resident Lorraine commented on the surprise

“Other people see pink elephants in the sky, but I saw alpacas all over on Monday 4th August - what a surprise!

The team responsible for orchestrating this included Krystal from Gorefield Alpacas and the lovely staff at Ferrars Hall. We had help to feed, photograph, and film everything so we could remember the day.

My favourite was Charmer, but I loved meeting Buster, Archie, and all the others too.

Thank you so much for helping me make my wish come true and for making me realise that miracles can still happen.

Love, Lorraine”
