Residents and team members at Bateman House Care Home in Uttoxeter recently organised a small surprise to thank local Police Community Support Officer Sean Antony for his ongoing support in the community and his visits to the home since it opened last year.
PCSO Antony arrived expecting a routine meeting and visit, but was welcomed with a themed cake and an gathering organised by residents and staff. The cake was prepared by the home’s chefs, Jayne and Sharon, after residents suggested marking his contribution and regular presence at the home.
Sean Antony said:
“I went to Bateman House thinking I was attending a meeting and social visit, but I was wrong, they had baked me a cake to say thank you for doing my role as a Police Community Support Officer, which I really enjoy. It was a very kind gesture and much appreciated. Thank you to the residents and team.”
Home Manager Erica Neal said the gesture came directly from residents who wanted to recognise someone they see regularly.
“Our residents wanted to show their appreciation in a simple way,” she said. “They enjoy meeting local officers and having the chance to chat and ask questions. It helps maintain a sense of connection with what is happening locally.”
Bateman House Care Home regularly welcomes local groups and visitors as part of its activities programme, helping residents stay engaged with the wider Uttoxeter community.
The visit also prompted discussion about community safety and local services. The home plans to continue building links with local organisations and community representatives.
