Carpenders Park Care Home 1st Birthday Extravaganza

Staff and residents of Carpenders Park Care Home near Watford celebrated the first anniversary of the home’s opening in April 2024. The celebrations were ‘Great Gatsby’ themed with colour-coordinated decorations to set the scene. Staff and residents enjoyed dressing up in themed costumes and were entertained by a singer, close-up magician, and caricaturist.

Getting the party started:

To get the afternoon underway, Interim Home Manager Julie Wicks delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to the community, residents, families, and staff. She remarked, " Thank you all for joining us today as we celebrate this incredible one-year milestone," she said. "I extend my sincere appreciation to our residents, staff, families, and the local community for your continued support since our grand opening in April 2024. A huge thank you also goes to everyone who helped make today’s celebration such a memorable extravaganza."

Looking ahead, Julie shared her hopes for the future of Carpenders Park:

We remain committed to being a vital part of the Watford community and to delivering the highest standards of care for our residents and their families. Thank you for being part of our journey.”

Following her speech, resident Marian had the honour of cutting the birthday cake, sparking cheers and smiles all around. The celebration also included a special moment as Raj Khiroya, Chairman of Three Rivers Council, joined staff and residents a year later in officially opening the home’s second wing with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Senior Customer Relations Manager Laura Mills reflected, "It was a lovely atmosphere to be part of."

Glowing feedback from attendees:

Guests enjoyed a Gatsby-themed menu created by Chef Manager Grzegorz Wolosz and his team. They also had the opportunity to sample the Country Court Signature Mocktail ‘The Golden Russian’ created by Client Services Manager Rebecca Pickford. Entertainment was provided by guest singer Emily, who performed a range of 1920s-inspired classics as part of her vintage party show. Everyone was captivated by the magic of close-up magician Wayne and left in stitches by caricature artist Michael.

The celebrations left guests immersed and filled with positivity. Comments such as "We've thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon. There was so much to do, far beyond our expectations," and "We can't believe it's been a year since Carpenders Park opened. It's a wonderful addition to the Watford community," echoed throughout the care home.
