On Friday 9th January, Castle Lodge Care Home in Mere officially opened its doors, celebrating the occasion with a special Grand Opening event. The event was attended by residents, staff, local community groups and local businesses, with local councillor George Jeans and representatives from Mere Carnival also joining the celebrations with their own stall at the event. The day highlighted Castle Lodge’s strong links with the Mere community and its commitment to being a welcoming, community-focused care home in Mere. The official opening was marked with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Home Manager Wendy Perkins, who proudly declared the care home open alongside Co-CEO Al-Karim Kachra and Chairman Abdul Kachra, celebrating an important milestone for the new care home in Mere and the wider local community.
Located in the heart of Mere, Castle Lodge Care Home is a modern, purpose-built care home providing Residential, Dementia and Respite Care. The home has been thoughtfully designed to deliver person-centred care in a warm, welcoming environment that supports independence, dignity and wellbeing.
Guests attending the grand opening enjoyed guided tours of the care home, meeting the team and sampling freshly prepared food while exploring the home’s facilities, with many also taking part in the raffle. During their visit, guests were able to see key areas of the home, including the Coffee Club Café, Elegance Hair Salon, The Castle Arms on-site pub, spacious en-suite bedrooms, communal dining and lounge areas, as well as the entertainment suite and spa bathrooms, all designed to support everyday living and social connection for residents.
Castle Lodge Care Home is led by Wendy Perkins, an experienced Home Manager who has been part of Country Court Care since 2006. Wendy brings over thirty years of leadership experience, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, person-centred care and creating homes where residents truly feel part of a family.
