Greenwood Court Care Home in Great Baddow was delighted to welcome residents, their families, and members of the local community to its annual Summer Fair.
The fair featured a wide selection of stalls and traditional games, creating a warm, lively atmosphere that was enjoyed by all. From locally sourced natural honey and handcrafted resin gifts to homemade lemonade and cakes, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Residents played an active role in the day’s success, making and selling handmade bracelets — a popular highlight with visitors.
A range of classic fairground games added to the fun, including “Name the Teddy,” “Hook a Duck,” and the ever-popular Coconut Shy. Friendly competition was encouraged with games such as “Guess the Number of Ducks in the Jar” and “Guess the Number of Buttons.” Additional attractions like face painting, henna art, tombola, and “Find the Red Straw” kept guests of all ages entertained.
"We were so pleased to see everyone enjoying themselves. The range of activities offered something for all, and it was wonderful to see our residents so involved and at the heart of it all."
Live musical entertainment throughout the day added to the uplifting atmosphere. One resident’s son commented, “This is brilliant – we’ve had such a great time, everything was so lovely and amazing.” Another family shared that it was “the greatest fair they had ever been to.”
"The turnout was fantastic, with many relatives taking the time to personally thank the team for a well-organised and enjoyable event. Feedback from the wider community was equally positive, with many praising the warm and welcoming atmosphere."
The event also raised £400, which will be used to purchase a sweet truck and karaoke machine for the home, enhancing the activities and experiences available to residents.
"It was a truly special day for everyone involved. The smiles, laughter and sense of togetherness were exactly what we hoped to achieve, and it was lovely to see our residents right at the centre of it all.
