Residents, families, and the local community came together at Hermitage House Care Home in Thrapston to celebrate an art exhibition hosted by resident Jenny, who fulfilled her dream through Country Court’s Make a Wish initiative.
The ‘Make a Wish’ initiative at Hermitage House, part of the Country Court group, is all about creating meaningful and memorable experiences that reflect each resident’s unique passions and interests. Whether organising special outings, marking personal milestones, or arranging heartfelt gestures, the initiative forms a key part of the home’s person-centred approach to care.
The art exhibition saw the home transformed into a gallery space, showcasing Jenny’s artwork, with visitors left amazed by the scale and detail. Many visitors couldn’t believe all the art pieces were created by one person.
“She’s ever so clever—you can tell there are years of work here. How has she found the time?” said one guest. “We are in awe of her work. What a talent Jenny has!”
The event also created laughter among residents, including fellow resident Helen, who joked:
“I’ve got to get out of here or else I’ll spend all my money on this beautiful art! I used to live on a farm, so I love my chosen piece even more. Thank you, Jenny.”
Jenny was overwhelmed by the turnout and support for her very own art exhibition, commenting:
“It was just incredible. To see so many people enjoying my work—and to raise money for charities so close to my heart— it has meant the world to me.”
Jenny chose to use the exhibition as an opportunity to fundraise for two charities: For The One and The Bethany Children’s Trust, both of which she found through her time attending Oundle Baptist Church.
“I love their missions and reasoning behind what they do,” she explained.
Thanks to generous donations from guests, Jenny raised an amazing sum of £747.00, all of which will go directly to the two chosen charities.
“We were honoured to support Jenny with her art exhibition. She’s so talented, and this was a wonderful way to share her gift with others.’ Commented Jess Grayson, Customer Relations Manager.
