Hermitage House Care Home Welcomes Weekly PAT Dogs for Resident Wellbeing

Hermitage House Care Home in Thrapston is delighted to announce the regular introduction of Pets as Therapy (PAT) dogs to the home — bringing comfort, connection, and joy to residents every week.

Each Friday, residents will enjoy visits from either Disney or Bear, two specially trained PAT dogs who are already making a positive impact.

We are so excited to welcome not one but two therapy dogs to Hermitage House,” said Jess Grayson, Customer Relations Manager. “Dogs bring so much joy, and we’re thrilled to have Disney and Bear become part of our weekly routine.”

The initiative is part of Hermitage House’s commitment to promoting wellbeing and meaningful engagement for residents. The presence of therapy animals has been shown to provide a range of emotional and cognitive benefits, particularly for those living with dementia.

Such beautiful dogs – bringing so much joy and comfort already. We’re looking forward to our regular visits,” said Sarah Gibbs, Wellbeing Coordinator Lead.

The introduction of pet therapy has already been warmly received by both residents and their loved ones.
