Two residents from Hermitage House Care Home in Thrapston, Kate and Helen, recently enjoyed a special outing to Miller & Carter Steakhouse, arranged through the home’s Make a Wish programme.
“When Kate told us she’d love to go out for a proper meal and enjoy a steak in a restaurant, we worked quickly to make it happen. We arranged a visit to Miller & Carter, with her close friend Helen joining her, along with our Home Manager, Jolene.”
The day began with laughter on the minibus as Jolene played some of Kate and Helen’s favourite songs, from Frank Sinatra to Ozzy Osbourne.
At the restaurant, Kate enjoyed a prawn cocktail followed by her favourite, a medium-rare sirloin steak, which she said was cooked perfectly. Both she and Helen said they loved the experience, describing it as good food, good company, and better than expected.
“It was lovely to see Jolene with us, just enjoying the day—it felt like a proper girls’ day out.”
The trip had been kept a surprise for Kate until the last minute, something she said made it even more enjoyable. “Thank you- ’d love to do something like this again,” she shared.
The Make a Wish programme is part of Hermitage House’s commitment to providing personalised care and creating meaningful experiences, ensuring residents continue to enjoy the things that bring them joy, friendship, and quality of life.
