Hermitage House Care Home in Thrapston is delighted to announce that Amanda Smith, Head Housekeeper, has won the Housekeeper Award at this year’s Housing With Care Awards—a prestigious recognition of excellence across the care sector.
‘Amanda has been an integral part of Hermitage House since its opening in March 2023, joining the team on day one and quickly becoming a much-loved and respected figure among residents, families, and staff. Her official role may be Head Housekeeper, but to us, Amanda is so much more—she is the heart of our home.’ Commented Home Manager Jolene Anderson.
Her responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness, comfort, and overall atmosphere of Hermitage House, ensuring that every resident’s space is not only tidy but welcoming and personal. Amanda approaches her role with an attention to detail that is nothing short of exceptional. Whether it’s arranging treasured items on a bedside table, ensuring pillows are just right, or adding a vase of fresh flowers by a window, Amanda ensures that each resident’s room reflects their personality and feels like home.
“Amanda is the glue that holds Hermitage House together,” said Steven Ireland, Senior Hospitality Projects Manager. “Her work goes far beyond keeping things clean—she creates a sense of belonging. Everyone knows Amanda, and everyone turns to her for support. She has a natural way of putting people at ease.”
In 2024, Amanda was promoted to Head Housekeeper. She continues to lead by example, nurturing a calm and comfortable environment that allows residents to feel truly at home.
‘Her efforts were formally recognised with a trophy and certificate at the recent Housing with Care Awards ceremony. The recognition is a proud moment not only for Amanda but for the entire team at Hermitage House and the wider Country Court family.’ Commented Home Manager Jolene Anderson.
“We are thrilled to see Amanda recognised on a national stage,” said Steven Ireland, Senior Hospitality Projects Manager. “She exemplifies everything we stand for—compassion, dedication, and genuine care. Amanda doesn’t seek praise, but she certainly deserves it.”
