Ruby Lodge Care Home Hosts a Spectacular Summer Family Fun Day

Ruby Lodge Care Home in Thirsk opened its doors to family, friends, and the local community for a fantastic Summer Family Fun Day, full of music, laughter, and community spirit.

‘Visitors enjoyed a variety of traditional games and stalls, including a bottle tombola, "Guess the Name of the Teddy", and a raffle filled with wonderful prizes generously donated by our stallholders. A very special thank you goes to The Ritz Cinema Thirsk for donating two complimentary tickets for our raffle – a real treat for one lucky winner!’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Jane Crisp.

We were delighted to welcome a range of local businesses and organisations to join in the celebration. Highlights included:

  • Dynamics Community Band, who had toes tapping and even got a few of our residents up dancing. The feedback has been overwhelming – everyone loved them, and many enjoyed taking photos with the band.

  • Really Awesome Coffee van stationed proudly at our entrance – the perfect welcome to a day of fun and festivities.

  • The Richardson’s Ice Cream Bike, which was a huge hit. One guest commented, “The ice cream was delicious, the best I’ve had – can he come back again?”

  • Franc’s Fancies served up a mouth-watering selection of sweet treats – their old school cake was a standout favourite.

  • Bee Floristry, with their stunning handmade flower boxes, added a beautiful touch of summer to the day.

  • Lara Nursery joined us to meet local families and share more about their wonderful childcare offering.

  • We were also thrilled to be joined by The Rainbow Care Group, who spent the afternoon connecting with guests and enjoying the festivities.

In addition to the wide variety of stalls offering handmade earrings, wooden gifts, candles, knitted teddies, and more, we held a friendly craft competition with entries judged in the categories of:

  • Best Flower Arrangement

  • Best Crafted Item

  • Best Knitted Item

All proceeds from the day went towards our residents' fund, raising just over £400. We’re now on the lookout for a travelling pantomime to bring a bit of festive magic to Ruby Lodge this Christmas, and we’re excited to use the funds raised to make this happen.’ Commented Wellbeing Coordinator Lead Lydia Rynolds.

Home Manager Holly Hunton said:

"It was such a joy to see our residents, families, and local community come together to celebrate. Events like these are at the heart of what we do – creating special moments and lasting memories. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and supported the day."
