Ruby Lodge Care Home Partners with Carers Plus Yorkshire to Launch Sowerby Support Group for Unpaid Carers

Ruby Lodge Care Home in Thirsk is pleased to announce a new partnership with Carers Plus Yorkshire to launch the Sowerby Support Group for Unpaid Carers. This monthly group will provide a supportive space for unpaid carers in the local area to connect, share experiences, and access practical advice.

Ruby Lodge Care Home offers a welcoming and comfortable environment for up to seventy residents, providing person-centred residential and specialist dementia care across three floors. From the moment visitors enter, they are greeted by a warm and friendly atmosphere, supported by excellent facilities and a commitment to delivering care with dignity, kindness, and compassion.

The group launched on Wednesday 3rd September from 2pm to 4pm at Ruby Lodge Care Home and will continue to meet on the first Wednesday of every month. It is open to all unpaid carers, whether supporting someone at home, living separately, or caring for a loved one in a care home setting.

Jane Crisp, Customer Relations Manager at Ruby Lodge, commented:

"When I joined Ruby Lodge, I quickly realised how important it is to build strong partnerships to support carers. Caring doesn’t stop just because your loved one moves into a care home-it just changes. We’re really proud to be working with Carers Plus Yorkshire to fill this gap and offer carers a space where they can share, learn, and find support."

With over 5.8 million unpaid carers across the UK, the support group aims to create a safe and welcoming environment where carers can find emotional support and practical guidance.

Ruby Lodge is also developing a partnership with Holy Rood House, which will provide counselling and additional support services for local families. These partnerships demonstrate Ruby Lodge’s dedication to person-centred care-not only for residents but for their families and the broader community in and around Thirsk.
