The Grange Care Home in Saffron Walden recently marked a significant milestone by celebrating its 5th anniversary. The event was filled with a delicious cake, refreshing mocktails, and a lively afternoon party, all enjoyed by staff, residents, and their families.
“We were treated to a fantastic selection of live songs by guest singer Collin, who performed classic hits like See You Later Alligator, Peaches and Cream, Rock Around the Clock, Twisting the Night Away, and Return to Sender. Our resident, Bill, also had the opportunity to perform his favourite songs such as My Way and Cockles and Mussels, which the other residents joined in on with great enthusiasm,” commented Wellbeing Coordinator Yvonne Gray.
Lijo Varghese, Home Manager, shared, “It’s a pleasure to care for such wonderful residents, who inspire us every day with their smiles. I’d also like to extend my gratitude to everyone who helped make today’s celebrations possible, especially our kitchen team for providing such delicious food and drinks.”
As part of the celebrations, the wellbeing team hosted an Oscars-style award ceremony for the residents. Awards and certificates were presented for categories such as Best Humour, Most Kind, and Best Puzzler. To add to the fun, the wellbeing team dressed as giant stars, bringing even more smiles to the faces of residents and guests in attendance.
Resident Audrey, who was named runner-up for Best Humour, joked, “If I’m runner-up, I don’t want it!” while bowing to the crowd with a big grin. Resident Anna, clearly surprised by her award, commented, “I’m amazed, astonished, thank you so much.”
“Each of our residents is a winner every day in our eyes, so please join me in giving them all a big round of applause,” said Wellbeing Coordinator Yvonne Gray.
The afternoon concluded with a heartfelt rendition of Happy Birthday sung by everyone in honour of The Grange’s 5th anniversary, followed by a ceremonial cake cutting led by Home Manager Lijo Varghese and resident Rita.
