Valentines Day for Residents at Ruby Lodge Care Home from Queen Mary's Students

Residents at Ruby Lodge Care Home in Thirsk were smiling from ear to ear after a visit from students at Queen Mary’s School who surprised residents with thoughtful Valentine’s Day gifts. The morning was truly memorable, as the students had gone the extra mile to make each resident feel individually loved with personalised gifts.

The visit was organised through Amanda Stringer, PA to the Head at Queen Mary’s. Students had requested a list of resident names from our home in advance to create personalised gift bags. Each gift was carefully prepared with treats such as sweets, chocolates, toiletries, books, and games—adding a heartfelt touch that made the experience even more special for our residents.’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Kirsten Idle.

Heartwarming Moments:

Home Manager Holly Hunton shared, 'One particularly touching moment was when resident Pat received her gift. Standing in the reception area, Pat shared that she had never received a Valentine’s card. The students were touched to know that their gesture had brought her so much joy.'

Customer Relations Manager Kirsten Idle shared, 'Another of our residents Gethin was delighted when the students visited him in his room with a beautifully arranged gift bag filled with goodies and a mug. He was overwhelmed by their kindness and joked that he didn’t know how he would ever eat so much—until the students suggested he share with fellow residents, an idea he agreed with.'

The students not only delivered gifts but also took the time to sit and chat with the residents, forming meaningful connections that made the morning truly magical. Their kindness and generosity have left a lasting impression on everyone at Ruby Lodge Care Home, and we look forward to another wonderful day with them soon.’ Commented Home Manager Holly Hunton.

Themed Visits Spreading Positivity:

The visit was such a positive and uplifting experience for everyone involved that we are welcoming students from Queen Mary’s back on Friday 21st March. This time, they will be bringing Easter gifts, ensuring that each resident receives a personalised surprise.’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Kirsten Idle.
