International Dance Day at Beech Lodge Care and Nursing Home

Beech Lodge Care and Nursing Home, near Holbeach in Lincolnshire love to celebrate National and International Days.  Residents enjoy getting involved and interacting if they wish, which is all part of the person-centred care approach to care at Beech Lodge. The themed days are educational as well as fun and engaging allowing both residents and staff to get to know each other better.

All the residents had a fabulous time

During the International Day of Dance, two of their wonderful senior carers, Twinkle Antony and Azeeha Sharahudeen took the opportunity to entertain residents and their colleagues by performing some of their traditional Indian Dancing. Wearing their traditional Indian Sari, everyone was able to immerse themselves in the performance.

International Dance Day (sometimes referred to as 'World Dance Day') is a worldwide event that celebrates all genres of dance. It was created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) – which is the world's largest organisation for the performing arts. The first International Dance Day was celebrated in 1982 and has taken place on the 29th of April every year since then.

All the residents had a fabulous time and a few of them, including some members of staff joined in with some encouragement, learning some of the moves too.

Anu Bijoy, the Home Manager commented “We would like to say a big thank you to Twinkle and Azeeha for dancing and demonstrating some of the wonderful Traditional Indian dancing for the residents”.
