Lifelong Wish to Publish a Book Comes True for Lucy at Birkin Lodge

Birkin Lodge Care & Nursing Home resident Lucy Pope, aged 91, fulfilled her lifelong wish this month to publish a book with the support of Wellbeing Coordinator Elizabeth Penman-Green. Lucy who has lived at Birkin Lodge in Tunbridge Well since 2021 commented “It’s my lifelong wish to be able to leave something behind for my grandchildren.”

The book; ‘Lucy and The Bear: A Vivid Memory’ is a children’s book which follows the tale of a young girl named Lucy who stumbles upon a bear in her garden. Author Lucy Pope hopes her book will help to spread her message. “You’re never too old to make your dreams come true. I should know I’m 91 years old!” – Lucy Pope.

Birkin Lodge Care & Nursing Home would like to thank their local community for all their support creating the book. A special thank you to Mesha Kneen who donated 20 illustrations, Michael Thame and Jo Price without whom this book just simply wouldn’t be possible. Also to Birkin Lodge’s Dawn Hann for helping with the final illustration in the book. Finally, a special thank you to Jem Authors Agency for publishing the book.

Owner of Birkin Lodge Care & Nursing Home, Country Court will be spreading Lucy’s message by sharing the book with all 36 of their homes across the UK to help inspire others to also follow their dreams.

Lucy and The Bear: A Vivid Memory is now available on Amazon you can purchase your copy here: https://amzn.to/3qYS5G7
