Staff and residents at Lyle House Care Home in Roehampton are enjoying a brand-new garden thanks to a community project by Ground Control, a sub-contractor for Wandsworth Council. The team at the landscape gardening company were contacted by Amelia Trunk, Wellbeing Team Lead at Lyle House and after she explained the situation, they decided to completely revamp the courtyard garden at Lyle House donating plants and their expertise and time to the project. The new garden has been designed to not only look beautiful but offer stimulation of the senses with carefully selected sensory plants that look and smell wonderful and some are edible too.
“We are so very grateful to the fantastic team at Ground Control” said Home Manager Paul Morris “They’ve done a wonderful job on the garden, our residents love to spend time outside and now they have a beautiful space to enjoy”.
The garden has been designed to attract wildlife including insects and birds and the team hope it will become a real haven as the plants begin to mature and grow. Country Court have contributed brand new garden furniture to the project to complete the revamp.
“It was fantastic to be involved in such a worthwhile project and to see the residents enjoying the garden already” Said Graham Bird, Grounds Maintenance Director at Ground Control. “Our contract manager Artur Barakoyni enjoyed working on the project so much he has offered his services to maintain the garden – well done Artur.”
“We’ve already been making the most of the new garden,” said Amelia Trunk. “Residents have been enjoying the lovely warm weather and sitting outside chatting about the plants and reminiscing about their own gardens. The project has really boosted the spirits of our residents who have not been able to see their families for many weeks now.”
