Residents get crafty at Beech Lodge Care and Nursing Home

Back in November the theme for the month within the Country Court Care homes group was 'Community Craft month' and the wonderful activities team in the Beech Lodge Nursing Home organised a new 'Tuesday morning craft group' which included an array of crafty projects for the residents to get involved with and participate in. This has been shown to lift people's mood, help them to be more focused and help to enhance dexterity in arms, fingers and hands.

The residents and staff had so much fun creating some wonderful items to sell on their stall at the Holbeach Craft Fayre, which took place on Saturday 3rd of December. The fayre was organised by Holbeach Parish Council and took place on Holbeach High Street. Other stall holders included a selection of local businesses and charities. It gave the local community the opportunity to come together in one place which was a fantastic idea, as well as raise some money for the residents' comfort fund at the same time.

The items they made included rag wreaths, Christmas decorations made from air drying clay, which were painted and decorated, beautiful tea light jars which had been painted using some gorgeous, coloured chalk paint and stencils, cushion covers, woolly hats, dog toys and kids candy cane treats. Including money from selling raffle tickets, they made £216 on the day.

Jodie the activities coordinator said "The craft stall was brilliant.  The atmosphere was great, it had a real community feel to it and we will one hundred percent be doing more"
