Residents, families, and the local community joined together at Hermitage House Care Home in Thrapston to enjoy a Valentine’s Day to remember, filled with entertainment, delicious food, and heartwarming moments.
‘To start Valentine’s Day right we hosted a community coffee morning, where local guests joined our residents for a cup of tea or coffee but this time with a twist as it was our annual “Baked with Love” competition. Guests sampled three specially crafted cakes—Passion Cake, Rose Cupcakes, and Black Forest Gateau. While guests initially hesitated to try the Passion Cake, it soon won them over and became the clear favourite.’ Commented Home Manager Jolene Anderson. ‘The coffee morning was so successful that visitors even requested to take samples home.’
‘After our coffee morning, our residents wanted to give back to their local community with acts of kindness cakes. So, we boxed some up with lovely heartfelt messages ‘A little treat just to say we hope you have a wonderful day! Smile and the whole world smiles with you. Thank you for everything you do’ and hand-delivered them into the local area of Thrapston which were all gratefully received.’ Commented Customer Relations Manager Jess Grayson.
The Valentine’s Day celebrations continued into the afternoon with a lively event featuring entertainment, fun games, and a wonderful selection of food and drinks prepared by Chef Manager Justin Joyce and his talented kitchen team. Residents and staff enjoyed playing “Guess That Tune,” and the music had many up on their feet, dancing the afternoon away.
Wellbeing Coordinator Lead Sarah Gibbs shared a standout moment from the event: “Resident Roger had the greatest and most unexpected moves—he absolutely loved the party!” Other residents, including Cathy, Dave, and Barbara, also embraced the Valentine’s spirit, enjoying a dance with friends and staff.
