At The Laurels, we provide family-led residential care in a comfortable rural setting. Our home is situated in the peaceful village of Draycott, 2 miles from Cheddar at the foot of the Mendips Hills, in the beautiful North East region of Somerset and has a great view over the local landscape. With just 21 beds, we get to know each resident personally, meaning they feel truly at home at The Laurels. Our caring and compassionate staff make sure life is safe and comfortable for our residents, while also providing a daily activity & well-being programme that means they get the most out of life with us.

Our residents and staff have now received the Covid-19 vaccine and we are safely welcoming new residents here at The Laurels. Our Covid-19 safety measures have been put in place to reassure you and your loved ones. Our Home

The Laurels Care Home is in the pretty Somerset village of Draycott. Residents enjoy beautiful countryside views from the terrace, with bright and comfortable lounge and dining areas, The Laurels has a warm, homely feel. The care home is fully equipped to provide the highest standards of personal care and support.

Bedrooms

Each of the 21 bedrooms at The Laurels offers a homely space, for residents to make their own, most rooms have beautiful views over the surrounding fields. Residents are encouraged to bring their own belongings to personalise their room, which also helps us to get to know people better. All our bedrooms come with their own en-suite bathroom, offering dignity and privacy.

Lounge & Dining

Our lounge and dining rooms are comfortably furnished, designed to make residents feel instantly at home. They are places to relax, settle into their favourite chair or catch up with friends over a cup of tea and biscuit. We encourage them to spend time just as they would at home, while our friendly staff provide the care they need.

Garden

The garden at The Laurels is a popular spot, with great views over the rolling hills. Our rooftop terrace is a favourite place to enjoy afternoon tea in the summer months, while our extensive vegetable patches are cultivated by residents throughout the year, with much of the produce making its way on to their dinner plates.

Caring with food

All of the high-quality, nutritious, tasty meals are created by our in-house chef, Katie. Our menus are updated on a weekly basis and according to the season; we strive to source local ingredients and use local suppliers where we can. Katie is happy to make dishes to order and like to get to know each resident in order to cater to their individual preferences and nutritional needs.

Our Chef’s challenge is to keep residents excited about coming to the dining table for their meals, every single day. Each dish is individually plated by Katie's team and presented to the highest standards. Drinks and snacks are freely available throughout the day, nothing is too much trouble here at The Laurels.

Home Manager

Becky is a committed and dedicated Home Manager who is passionate about enriching the lives of our residents by delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life. She is passionate about promoting individual choice for residents, allowing them to feel empowered. Becky operates an open-door policy and welcomes families and residents to pop in any time for a chat over a cup of tea.
