Staff at Fenchurch House Care Home recently organised a fantastic Christmas party for residents, their friends and relatives. Rather than a traditional festive theme, they decided to get creative and make it an Alice in Wonderland themed tea party instead.
This gave them the opportunity to include the residents in the preparations by involving them in creating a lot of the decorations. The residents had enjoyed getting crafty in the days before the party to make card teacups, hats, playing cards, clocks and more. Some of the homemade decorations were used to decorate the Christmas tree which added to the party theme on arrival at the home. The creativity shone through and continued with the outfits the staff and residents wore to the party.
Entertainment was provided by Karl, who sang and interacted with everyone, providing songs that got everyone singing and dancing. He got everyone to sing Happy Birthday to Marjorie, who is one of the wonderful residents at the home and whose birthday was on the same day as the party.
The delicious buffet was prepared by Nuryanj, the Chef at the home along with her fantastic team, the spread showcased some of the wonderful food provided at the home, including a large selection of savoury dishes and desserts which included a fruit Christmas cake as well as an eye catching tiered multi coloured sponge cake in the Alice in Wonderland theme.
The party was partly funded by a generous donation from Dalrod, with two members of the team attending the party and helping to draw the raffle at the end.
One guest Cherrly, commented “It was a lovely afternoon, thank you all for your hard work, all the residents loved it and great food to boot”
