Resident Ken, who lives at Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing home in Welwyn Garden City enjoyed an afternoon filled with singing and dancing to celebrate his 87th Birthday. He was delighted to be treated to a wonderful chocolate cake made by Chef Karen Millard and the kitchen team.
Residents and their families enjoyed an afternoon with live entertainment by a guest singer who used to be in the 1970’s band Guys and Dolls. He played the guitar and sung an array of classic hits from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Activity coordinator Mihaela commented that ‘it is so lovely to see all the residents singing along, Ken particularly loved the old classic hits and was able to reminisce with his wife upon hearing them’.
Residents loved joining in on the entertainment with specific hand actions and parts of the chorus. Activity Coordinator Rachel commented that ‘Kathy thoroughly enjoyed tapping her hands and feet in time to the music and Henry enjoyed dancing with our Home manager Teresa Torres’.
‘The afternoon was a brilliant occasion to celebrate our resident Ken’s 87th birthday and it is so lovely to see residents and their families involving themselves with the entertainment.’ Commented Home Manager Teresa Torres.
