Chef Noel Claveria has won the prestigious Care Home Chef award at the regional 2021 Great British Care Awards. Noel has been the Chef Manager at Eccleshare Court Care & Nursing Home since January 2013 and was nominated for his high standards and creative approach. The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and a celebration of excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
“We are delighted that Noel was won the GB Care Award in the East Midlands Region,” said Anwar Kajee Head of Hospitality at Country Court. “Noel and his team at Eccleshare Court and Swanholme Court work hard to come up with creative and delicious menus for our residents, we are delighted that his hard work and commitment has been recognised with this award.”

Noel has many years of experience in the catering industry but has found working in care by far the most rewarding and loves the challenge of keeping people excited to come to the dining room every day. Commenting on his role as Chef at Eccleshare Court, Noel said “I am very honoured to have been chosen as the winning chef at the GB Care Awards. I love getting to know all the residents and preparing food that I know they’ll enjoy”. The judges were impressed by Noel’s presentation skills which he mastered whilst working on cruise ships before joining the care sector. Noel demonstrated his outstanding skills for residents during Nutrition and Hydration week earlier in the year. He is passionate about getting residents engaged with food preparation and encourages them to eat healthily by preparing colourful fruit smoothies, melon boats and fruit swans. By making the food look exciting, residents are more likely to try something new.
The winners of the East Midlands Region Great British Care Awards were announced at an awards ceremony in November 2021 at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham. Country Court wishes Noel and the rest of the nominees the very best of luck for the finals.
