Staff members and residents at Eccleshare Court Care & Nursing Home in Lincoln have been busy over the past few months organising a Christmas Market for residents, their relatives and the local community around the home. The market took place inside the ‘village street’ area of the care home which suited the theme to perfection. The walkway, café and pub had been carefully decked out with festive garlands, lights and decorations. Visitors enjoyed browsing the stalls and trying their luck on the tombola, raffle and games.
Everything came together on the day with the Salvation Army Band playing carols to launch the event. Deputy Mayor, Councillor Biff Bean took time out of his busy schedule to attend and meet with residents, their families and members of the local community.
Other entertainment included a visit from two elves who interacted with the children, bringing festive fun. More musical entertainment was provided by Dave the Banjo man who played lots of old favourite hits for everyone to sing along to. Santa’s grotto was a firm favourite with younger visitors, and everyone enjoyed delicious homemade mince pies and gingerbread, baked by head chef Noel and his kitchen team. Senior Carer Eddie had a sponsored chest wax, which took place on the day, much to the delight of residents and staff.
Home Manager Lisa Dent commented, “It was a wonderful event with everyone having lots of fun and enjoying themselves whilst helping raise money for the residents’ comfort fund. It was wonderful to welcome the local community to our home and to bring some Christmas cheer for everyone. So far, with the kindness and generosity of everyone who attended we have raised £600.”
Sharon, the lead wellbeing coordinator commented “The Christmas Market was such a wonderful experience for everyone, especially seeing so many "magic moments" after such a long and difficult time during Covid. We have all reunited, families bonding, staff laughing, and money being raised for the Residents Comfort Fund to enable our residents to enjoy the treats they all so deserve! “
