Ferrars Hall Care Team Complete Mount Snowdon Climb

Recently a group of carers at Ferrars Hall Care Home in Huntingdon challenged themselves to climb Mount Snowdon to raise money for their resident’s comfort fund and for Alzheimer’s society. The climb took the team 7.5 hours in total, but it was all worth it as the group managed to raise a wonderful sum of over £2,000.

How the team found the climb -

The team took 4 hours to climb to the top of Mount Snowdon and commented that ‘The view was the best part of the climb; it wasn’t as easy as everyone was telling us it would be. But getting to the top was worth it’ commented Care assistant Laura.

‘We had some sad news recently at Ferrars Hall Care Home, due to our Duty Manager Jo passing away suddenly. So, we did this climb in her memory. It helped us push through our climb as motivation for both raising funds for the residents and for the memory of Jo.’ Commented Care Assistant Peter

‘The climb pushed all of us out of our comfort zone, it helped us combat our fears and it taught us all patience, as it was a very long day. We even had strangers motivating us on their way down saying we can do this as they could see we were first timers to this’ Commented Care assistant Diane.

‘We would now like to challenge the other homes within the group to meet their goal of raising money for a worthy cause. It has been such a great thing to be a part of and it has made us closer as a team and really shown us how much we can rely on one another’ Commented Care assistant Peter

‘We all want to say a big thank you to Arlene, Senior Carer, who drove us all there and back and say how wonderfully she led us as a team and continued her senior role outside of work. She has been a great support to us all’ Commented Care Assistant’s Laura, Peter, Heather and Diane.

Next steps for funds & fundraisers -

With the funds raised the team wish for the money to be spent on something the whole home can enjoy and something that is assessable for each floor. So, the team have planned for an entertainer to perform on each floor.

Following the climb, the team have thought about future fundraisers like, jumping out of an aeroplane, another sponsored climb or sponsored shave/wax.
