Birkin Lodge Care & Nursing Home residents were delighted with Michael Bublé tribute act Jason Allen in honour of their good friend Phyliss Bishop, who sadly passed away aged 91.
“The wish was requested by late resident Phyliss who loved Christmas and played Michael Bublé every year in her home. It was the moment she felt most Christmassy. Her favourite memories were wrapping presents to the sound of his voice.” said Wellbeing Co-ordinator Elizabeth Penman-Green.
Jason sang a repertoire of Bublé classics and plenty of Christmas hits. To capture the day, local radio DJ Ian James from Bridge Radio (BRFM) came along to livestream.
Adding to the special day, residents from Iden Manor, another local Nursing Home, surprised the residents of Birkin Lodge. This was particularly special for Birkin Lodge resident Joan Popham as her best friend came along to enjoy the music.
With the day in full swing, residents and staff danced and sang to all the Bublé classics, including ‘White Christmas’ which was voted the favourite amongst residents.
Elizabeth Penman-Green, Wellbeing Co-ordinator, commented on the day.
“The afternoon was a wonderful tribute to our late friend Phyllis and a magical start to the Christmas celebrations filled with fun, music, laughter and love.”
Birkin Lodge would like to thank Jason Allen and Ian James for donating their time to help kick start the Christmas celebrations.
