Moat House Residents Enjoyed Baked with Love Event Alongside Local School

Residents at Moat House Care Home in Great Easton enjoyed an afternoon filled with delightful, sweet treats during the much anticipated ‘Baked with Love’ cake event. This heartwarming event brought together residents, staff, and local school children for a memorable experience centred around delicious homemade cakes.

Crowning the winning bake -

‘Our care home lounge was beautifully transformed into a café-style setting with an inviting display of freshly baked cakes for all to try. Residents, visitors, and staff were encouraged to sample each treat and take part in a friendly voting competition to crown the winning bake.’ Commented Home Manager Tara Crowe.

"Our Chef's prepared three superb cakes—passion cake, rose cupcakes, and a rich chocolate gateau," shared Wellbeing Coordinator Kerry Pennock.

‘A particularly special part of the event was the involvement of children from Great Easton Primary School, who eagerly assisted the residents by serving cakes and helping them complete their voting slips. The children also took on the important task of tallying the votes, revealing the passion fruit cake as the winner and overall favourite.’ Commented Wellbeing Coordinator Kerry Pennock.

"Dee, one of our residents, was delighted to share the experience with her family, enjoying the cakes in the comfort of her room alongside her daughter and grandchildren. Their glowing feedback added to the positive atmosphere of the whole event, with the passion cake being their top choice," noted Home Manager Tara Crowe. "Meanwhile, Jenny, another resident, found a particular fondness for the chocolate gateau—so much so that she went back for seconds to truly savour the treat!"

An opportunity to get together -

The event provided a wonderful opportunity for residents to come together, enjoy a variety of delicious cakes, and actively participate alongside their local community by taking turns cutting and serving the cakes themselves. The presence of the local school children and their families made the occasion even more meaningful.
