On Friday, 1st September, Selwood House Care Home, in Charlton Down near Dorchester, was officially opened by Deputy Mayor Janet Hewitt alongside local fundraiser Helen Freeman and Alykhan Kachra, Co-CEO of Country Court, the parent company of Selwood House. The home was declared open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the local community where the deputy mayor described Selwood House as a "A wonderful place, a wonderful home, officially declared open."
Over the weekend, the luxury care home welcomed over 100 visitors to celebrate the Grand Opening. On the day, staff were delighted to offer tours, food and live music to visitors from the local community. One visitor commented
“It’s a stunning home and I wish you all the best for it, it will be a great asset to our community here in Charlton Down. I loved the bathroom with the spa bath, I can see myself moving in!”
Helen Freeman said “We were delighted when Country Court offered to make the final donation to complete our fund raising for an additional defibrillator for Charminster. I’m sure there will be lots of opportunities for us to work together in the future”.
The care home will provide both long-term residential and dementia care and short-term respite care in a luxury setting. The eighty-four-bed care home has undergone a full refurbishment and extension by the new operator Country Court.
