St John's Care Home delighted to be rated Good in all areas

Managers and staff at St John’s Care Home in Spalding are celebrating their continued rating of ‘Good’ following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The report rated the care home good in all areas, covering safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and well-led, inspectors found staff to be kind and caring and knew people and their needs well.

“We are very pleased with the report findings”, said Alykhan Kachra, Managing Director of Country Court Care. “St John’s Care Home has an excellent care team and continues to go from strength to strength

The report noted how the care staff ensured people were treated with kindness, dignity and respect and that people were given emotional support when needed. Inspectors noted plenty of interactions between staff and people living at the home and people were supported to take part in activities. One person told inspectors "Oh yes, staff are kind." A relative said, "It's a nice place, there's nothing wrong with it. The carers are really kind". Inspectors asked people whether they felt safe at the home, people told them they did saying, "Oh yes, I don't lock my doors, if they bring me a cup of coffee that's very nice. I just feel safe here."

Inspectors saw how people were supported and involved in decision making about their care, choosing which area of the home to spend time in. People were also offered choices at mealtimes and able to request meals that were not on the menu. One person told the inspection team; "The food's very good. I'm having an omelet. Somebody comes around and asks you the day before. You can have tea and coffee through the night." Inspectors also noted that people were supported to take part in activities socially and culturally relevant to them including gentle exercise, religious activities and spending time outdoors. One resident explained “I sit in the garden if it's nice. I've knitted a blanket, we all have to knit squares. The activities coordinator is going to sew them altogether”.

“We are very pleased with the report, it’s a credit to our dedicated staff team” said Tracy Klue, Home Manager “Providing the very best personalised care in a family-led environment is at the heart of everything we do here at St John’s.”

St John’s Care Home is home to up to 56 residents and offers residential and dementia care in a homely setting.
