Wish for a trip to the farm comes true for Lakeview Lodge residents

Residents of Lakeview Lodge Care Home in Bletchley, Milton Keynes enjoyed a trip to Mead Open Farm recently as part of Country Court’s ‘Make a wish’ initiative. Country Court, the operator behind Lakeview Lodge, asked each resident if there was anything they wished to do or if they had a special place they’d like to visit. The trip fulfilled the wishes of two of residents, one to go to a farm and the other to go on a trip that included nature.

Mead Open Farm was one of the first Open Farms in Bedfordshire. It spans 30 acres and is home to farmyard animals large and small. The afternoon of the visit was particularly cold, so everyone wrapped up warm and all agreed that it was worth it to be able to get up close to wildlife. Each of the animals brought a smile to the residents' faces, especially the new babies.

Wellbeing and Activity Coordinator Jade Whitaker said, “Our residents had the opportunity to pet the animals and it was a pleasure to see their faces light up, there was lots of laughter when the animals tried eating their blankets!”

There was lots of talk about fond memories of time spent in the great outdoors with loved ones. We love making the wishes of our residents come true and it helps them get the most out of life at Lakeview Lodge”

Cheryl Rolt, Home Manager at Lakeview Lodge Care Home added, “Our ‘Make a Wish’ initiative is part of our wider pledge to provide meaningful opportunities for the people in our care on a daily basis. By getting know each person individually we can not only meet their daily care and well-being needs but also take the opportunity to make these special days happen for people.

The ‘Make a Wish’ initiative has seen residents from across the Country Court group enjoy a range of special outings and activities; from scoring goals at Sheffield United, to off-road driving and having family tea parties.
