The 42 bedrooms at Somerset House are bright, comfortable and homely with en-suite shower rooms, many of which have been recently renovated. Residents’ dignity and privacy is respected at all times, with carers understanding each individual’s preferences for entering their room while simultaneously ensuring they are supervised throughout the day and night.
Our lounge and dining rooms at Somerset House Care Home in York are comfortable and tastefully furnished, making you feel instantly at home and relaxed. Our dining room is in our conservatory, which means it gets lots of natural light. It is clean and bright, with tables set ready to give residents a dignified and comfortable dining experience.
We encourage our residents to continue to enjoy their hobbies and pastimes and for many that is spending time in the garden. With beautiful surroundings, we continue to offer that opportunity here at Somerset House Nursing Home. Our residents take much pride from their flowering displays and vegetable produce and have enjoyed getting involved with the annual Country Court in Bloom competition.
Dipin joined Country Court in 2006 as an RGN nurse he brings many years’ experience in the care industry and operates an open-door policy, always on hand to answer questions from residents and families. His hard work and dedication have been recognised with a Country Court staff award for the company value ‘Local home, national family’.
Neil consistently produces a varied range of nutritious and exciting meals for our residents, catering for a wide range of dietary requirements and preferences. Before each meal, the dining room is laid with tablecloths, napkins, cutlery and table decorations. Neil’s regular ‘come dine with us’ nights enable relatives to join residents for a fine dining experience at their home.
Jerry has worked for Country Court since 2007 at both Somerset House and our sister homes in Sheffield. Jerry leads the care and nursing team shifts and is passionate about delivering person-centred care.
Maureen loves to get to know all of our residents and always makes time for a chat with them and their families. Maureen keeps our home running smoothly, dealing with enquiries and all our administration.
Jeanette gets to know all of our residents, their likes, dislikes, hobbies and interests. Jeanette takes our residents on outings to the local area, organises quizzes, games and sing-a-longs in the home and many other activities at the request of our residents.
Carole works alongside the catering and care teams looking after our resident’s nutrition and hydration requirements. She always has a cheery smile and time for a chat over a cup of tea and slice of cake.
