Residents at Heartlands Care & Nursing Home in Yardley received a donation of head massagers from local business ‘Massage the Senses’ this week. Owner Lucy Halligan delivered the box which included handwritten motivational messages from her daughter to help brighten resident’s days.
“At Massage the Senses we aim to help people be mindful of how important it is to take time out and look after one’s self, this is especially important at this difficult time,” said Lucy Halligan, “As we are unable to provide massages in person at the moment we wanted to do what we could to help the residents at Heartlands.”
Massage the Senses is a newly formed business that aims to create a positive perception of massage and its benefits. They offer massages at events, in the office and for hen pamper parties or weddings.
Tracy Davies Wellbeing Coordinator added “We’ve been enjoying using the massagers as part of our regular pampering sessions with residents. The head massages are a great sensory tool, especially for those living with dementia, they really do produce a lovely calming effect for people”.
Margaret Richards, Home Manager at Heartlands Care Home added, “We’ve been so touched by all the wonderful donations we’ve been receiving from the local community around our care home in Yardley. Lucy’s donation is very much appreciated by all our residents especially those who are living with dementia or bedbound, everyone will be able to benefit from some extra relaxation”
