The Grove Care Home delighted with 'Good' CQC rating

Residents and staff at The Grove Care Home are celebrating after receiving their latest CQC Report, rating them ‘Good’ in all areas, following a recent unannounced inspection. The Grove Care Home provides long term residential and respite care for up to 52 residents in the village of Waltham, near Grimsby.

The report noted the welcoming and friendly atmosphere at The Grove and highlighted that staff knew people well and showed genuine care and concern for the people they supported. Interactions between staff and people were natural and showed positive relationships had been developed. One relative said, “I can come anytime to visit and can see what's going on. I do think they [staff] care from their heart”.

Inspectors noted that there was a good range of activities for residents provided by the home’s Activity Coordinators who work with a team of volunteers from the village of Waltham to ensure everyone had quality time spent with them. The Grove’s ‘Make a Wish’ initiative meant staff could support some people to fulfil their wishes. These included watching a snooker competition in Sheffield, visiting local restaurants and 'face-timing' their relative in Australia.

“Our team at The Grove put our resident’s health and wellbeing at the heart of everything they do every day, we are delighted that this is reflected in the report findings,” said Alykhan Kachra, Managing Director of Country Court.

Home Manager, Kelly Lofts, was very pleased that the report highlighted the home’s clear vision, promoting high-quality, person-centred care. “We have a lovely homely atmosphere here at The Grove, staff go above and beyond every day to ensure people feel well cared for and retain their independence.”

Residents told inspectors that they were happy living at The Grove. One person commented “All the staff are very approachable, and they do listen," and "I'm satisfied with the way I'm looked after”. Inspectors noted that people received individualised care which was responsive to their needs and that they contributed to their own care plans.
