Staff at Tallington Lodge care home in Tallington, near Stamford helped resident Barbara Tomlinson fulfil her wish of seeing Strictly star Giovanni Pernice perform in Peterborough. The wish was fulfilled as part of a ‘Make a wish’ initiative run by Country Court, the company behind Tallington Lodge.
Resident Barbara has been obsessed with Giovanni since his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, where she showed her support by tuning in to watch every episode. The staff at Tallington Lodge wanted to find a way to encourage her newfound appreciation of her favourite dancer so they decided to surprise her with tickets to his show ‘Giovanni Pernice, This Is Me’ which took place at The Cresset in Peterborough.
“Barbara had a fabulous time” said Chantal, Wellbeing Coordinator at Tallington Lodge. “We were lucky enough to make it towards the front of the stage to see him up close and we even managed to come home with some merchandise and a wave from Giovanni himself. Afterwards we treated her to her to one of her favourite takeaway’s, McDonalds.”
Commenting on her experience, Barbara said “I felt like royalty the whole evening because everyone made such a fuss over me.”
