Residents at Beech Lodge Care and Nursing Home joined staff for a wonderful day of celebrations for the end of Onam, an annual Hindu Cultural festival. This was part of Country Court's 'Strictly Country Court’ month. Care Homes across the Country Court group are taking part in a month of dance-themed activities and will be experiencing a host of different dancing styles at various events.
Some of the care team at Beech Lodge are from the Kerala region of India and keen to share their traditional celebrations with residents. The day was filled with activities, with some of the residents joining in and finishing their colourful Pookalam designs and then creating a fantastic window display. In the afternoon a member of the care team, Azeeha, dressed in traditional clothing, enthralled everyone with her graceful Thiruvathira dance routine. Other members of staff participated and impressed residents by wearing their traditional clothing.
The day ended with their very own talented Chef Bijoy who put on a delicious spread. For Onam a meal of 13 different vegetarian dishes is prepared, usually served on banana leaves and traditionally shared by family and friends. On this occasion the fantastic food was shared with their wonderful Beech Lodge family.
