Country Court Oomph-lympics underway!

The Country Court Oomph-lympics will be held 14th - 27th September 2020, with a range of Olympics and sport-themed activities.

Some of our homes have already got underway with residents trying their hand at Boccia, bop-fit, artistic swimming and other events. The sporty activities are being shown on home's Facebook pages.

Homes will be hosting an Opening Ceremony with afternoon tea, a banner or ribbon to cut to declare the Oomph-lympics open and not forgetting their torchbearer and flag. To add a competitive element the care home with the best torch, best medals and best mascot flag will receive a prize. The winners will receive a contribution to their comfort fund.

The home's mascot can be anything that's related to their home, some are using one of our animal sculptures from their garden, or something relevant to their local area, they can be as creative as they like!

Activity Coordinators have received training from our partner activity provider, Oomph Wellness, and will be leading residents in Boccia, bop-fit, artistic swimming and an open event of their choice. Care home can choose how and when to hold their events to suit their home.

At the end of the Oomph-lympics they will be holding a closing ceremony, presenting medals to everyone who took part and taking photos of the presentations.

The Oomph-lympics are just one of the many activity initiatives that Country Court provide for residents. Providing stimulating activities in our care homes is one of the most crucial elements of maintaining health, happy residents. By enabling our residents to participate in meaningful opportunities, we help strengthen their physical, emotional, social, cognitive and sensory skills. These five skills complete the wellbeing of a person and help maintain good physical and mental health.
