A team of carers at Ferrars Hall Care Home in Huntingdon have set themselves the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon in May 2023. Diane, Laura, Arlene, Heather & Peter have challenged themselves to raise £1500 to be shared between Dementia UK and the care home’s Comfort Fund.
The team are keen to complete the challenge and push past their limits to give something back to their residents, demonstrating the determination needed to be a Care Assistant.
One of the Senior Carers Arlene commented ‘Our residents always show us their appreciation for the care we provide. We wanted to do this as a way of giving back to them and dementia is a cause very close to all of our hearts. With the money raised for the Comfort Fund we hope to treat everyone to an extra special day trip in the summer.’
Diane commented ‘Many of the care team have step counters and constantly have competitions within the home to get the most steps in a day. We already have a great team spirit and are very competitive so we feel this sponsored climb will bring us closer as a team’.
The team are already getting into the spirit for their big challenge in May by doing a test walk around Grafham Water where they will be walking 10 miles together.
