Mayor of Newport cuts the ribbon at The Grange Care Home

The Grange Care Home welcomed visitors to its’ Grand Opening on Friday 6th March, guest of honour was Mayor of Newport, Cllr Arthur Coote who together with Abdul Kachra, Chairman of Country Court, cut the ribbon and declared the home officially open.

Managing Director, Alykhan Kachra said “We are very proud of our latest care home and thank everyone involved in the development and opening. It was wonderful to meet so many people from the village and receive such positive feedback. As a family-run company, we look forward to The Grange becoming an integral part of the community in Newport, providing the kind of care we’d want all of our loved ones to receive.”

Visitors enjoyed a tour of the home and were wowed by the state-of-the-art facilities which include generous en-suite bedrooms with walk-in showers, an assisted bathroom on each floor, luxurious hair salon, cinema room, dedicated activity room and even its very own pub, ‘The Spitfire Arms’. The aviation theme continues outside with a spitfire plane on the terrace creating an outdoor feature for everyone to enjoy.

Chef's demonstration

Guests sampled food from mouth-watering menus with Chef Ben Morris on hand to demonstrate the preparation of pan-fried scallops and seared steak, while chatting to visitors about the menus that he will be creating for residents on a weekly basis. Visitors also enjoyed lamb and mint sliders, bite-sized roast beef served in a mini Yorkshire pudding and satay prawns. For those with a sweet tooth there was a wide selection of dessert to sample, all served with a range of drinks supplied by the front of house team led by Lakeisha Kicks, who will head up the hospitality team at the home.

The Grange Care Home is in the picturesque village of Newport close to Saffron Walden and provides affordable luxury care, with a warm family feel. Set in the grounds of Debden Grange Retirement Village the care home specialises in residential care, short-term respite care and specialist dementia care for up to forty people.

State-of-the-art facilities

The home features two beautiful lounge and dining areas, the Audley Suite on the first floor opens out on to a large terrace where residents and their visitors will be able the enjoy tea and cakes. The home has several quiet seating areas in corridors where residents can rest for a moment and enjoy the themed décor. Each part of the interior design has been carefully chosen to offer opportunities for reminiscing and talking points, with themes such as vintage aircraft with maps, books and items to look at or read.

A passion for care & well-being

Country Court is passionate about residents’ well-being and, as a result, pride themselves in providing personalised care services with expertise and compassion. The Grange will have dedicated Activity & Wellbeing Champions who will get to know residents individually; they are then able to support and encourage people to continue to enjoy their hobbies and interests.  

There will be a range of meaningful activities for residents to enjoy every day, either in a group as a sociable activity or on a one-to-one basis. Local community groups will be encouraged to visit residents, join in with activities and host their own events, making the home an important part of the local community. From reminiscing and games to light exercise, crafts, gardening or singing there will always be something going on.
