Selwood House Care Home Hosts Oscars Night for Staff and Residents

Inspired by the glitz and glamour of the recent Oscars, Selwood House Care Home in Charlton Down hosted a memorable Oscars-themed event at their very own pub The Boathouse. The entertaining event was designed to shine a light on the distinct personalities and achievements of both residents and staff through 12 fun award categories.

To complement the theme, the Wellbeing Team decorated the pub with a range of black and gold decorations. Winners were announced by Home Manager Becky Green and presented with an Oscar Statue Trophy and certificate, everyone enjoyed congratulating each other on their awards. In keeping with the décor, the talented chefs at the care home created a wonderful buffet spread, offering a taste of luxury to all attendees.

"Awards such as the 'Grandma's Hug Award"

Wellbeing Coordinator and recipient of the “Energiser Bunny Award” Paula Marfell commented.

"Our Oscars night was a reflection of our approach to person-centred care, where each award was a nod to the unique contributions and qualities of our residents and staff.

Awards such as the 'Grandma's Hug Award' and 'Most Likely to Surprise You' were among the many accolades that highlighted the diverse and vibrant personalities within the care home.”

Home Manager Becky Green commented,

“Integrating person-centred care into every aspect of life at Selwood House is our top priority. The Oscars event is just one example of how we tailor our activities and recognition to reflect and celebrate the individuality of those we care for.”
