Stanton Court Baking Club

Keen bakers at Stanton Court Care & Nursing Home in Stanton Drew, near Bristol have been enjoying regular Monday cooking sessions. A group of six residents get together to enjoy a regular baking club led by wellbeing coordinator Lydia Evans. Staff at the care home take time to get to know each resident, their interests and hobbies. When they found there were a number of cooks eager to continue their favourite pastime, they helped them to start a regular Baking Club.

“The residents have made sausage rolls, quiches, cinnamon buns and cake pops. They all thoroughly enjoy the sessions and are eager to know what the following weeks surprise recipe will be.” commented activity coordinator Lydia Evans.

“Resident Jean used to make pasties, so these sessions bring back wonderful memories of her baking days. Trevor also enjoys the sessions; he is always eager to start and gets fully involved in all the recipes.”

Home Manager Wendy Perkins said, “The cooking sessions are great for all the residents to get involved in and they are always so proud of their creations it’s wonderful to see. Here at Stanton Court, we like to ensure people continue to enjoy their hobbies and this has been a wonderful opportunity to reminisce and share their experiences of baking together.”
