Recently at Oakview Lodge Care & Nursing Home in Welwyn Garden City residents and staff enjoyed a lively performance from The Funky Fiddler, a talented musician who entertained residents with a range of musical instruments from the fiddle to the mandolin. He was also able to sing along at the same time.
‘Residents such as Gladis and Henry loved the upbeat music and danced all the way through the performance’ Commented Well-being Coordinator Mihaela. ‘During the performance residents were taught some history about the songs and they were able to reminisce about their favourite artists from the past.’

‘After Jimmy’s performance he went the extra mile for Marion, one of our residents, as it was her birthday. However, she was unable to get up from her bed and join the entertainment in the lounge. Jimmy was only too pleased to take his performance to her and did a private birthday performance specially for her 91st birthday. I can say it well and truly brightened her day’ Commented Well-being Coordinator Rachel Davies.
‘It was a wonderful and different form of entertainment for our residents. But looking at all their faces they loved all the different instruments, sounds and song choices. We will definitely be welcoming Jimmy back soon for another performance’ Commented Rachel.
