The Laurels care home in Draycott near Cheddar hosted a fantastic Christmas Party to end 2022 on a high. Families, friends, staff and even The King of Rock and Roll joined residents to attend the celebrations at The Cheddar Rugby Club Pavilion. Over 100 guests were treated to a delicious buffet spread made by the care home’s chef Katie Bagwell and her kitchen staff team.
In the lead up to the party it was a full team effort to decorate the venue, prepare the buffet and ensure the residents were ready to enjoy their party. Residents were treated to a pamper and had their hair and nails done on the morning of the party. They were particularly taken with the glittery hair spray which was a pamper favourite for many.
At the party everybody danced and sang to Elvis who performed for an hour and made a huge fuss of all the residents by getting them involved and serenading them. Guests also enjoyed a raffle with fabulous prizes donated by local businesses, which raised over £350 for the resident’s Comfort Fund.
The party was a huge success. Health care professionals said ‘it was the best do they’d been to’ and residents’ families said ‘it wasn’t your typical care home do it was magnificent’.
