Devika Dementia Day Centre are thrilled to launch at Fenchurch House Care Home in Spalding. The Day Centre specialises in caring for those living with dementia, providing a range of meaningful activities and opportunities for friendship and companionship. Devika Demenita Day Centre is run by Caroline Ignatius who named the company after her mum, Devika, who has lived with dementia for several years. Caroline is passionate about dementia care and dedicated to providing support for others who may also be caring for a loved one at home.
The service provided by the Day Centre offers people living with mid to late-stage dementia weekly activity sessions whilst providing respite for carers. The sessions also give people a way to form new friendships and offers a new lease of life.
Anita Rowley, the Home Manager said about the launch ‘The Devika Care Company provide a much needed service for those living with dementia in Spalding and the surrounding area. The Day Centre promotes inclusion and community engagement that is not only meaningful but important, to support wellbeing and dementia awareness in our local area. Fenchurch House are delighted to host Caroline and her team’.
Katie Peters, the senior customer relations manager who helped to arrange the sessions also said “We are really please to welcome Caroline and The Devika Day centre to Fenchurch House. It is a wonderful opportunity to support the local community and showcase our beautiful home and wonderful staff.”
The sessions take place in the luxurious Palm Suite, where people have access to all the facilities they require but additionally when the weather improves they will have access to the secured, landscaped garden too. Attendees can take part in crafts and activities or sit and chat and have their nails polished if they wish. The sessions will run once a week on a Thursday from 10am – 3pm with refreshments and a light lunch provided. The mouth-watering lunch is prepared fresh by Nurayni, the chef manager at the Home.

‘‘We’re so grateful to Fenchurch House for allowing us to use their beautiful home to host our weekly sessions, aimed at supporting people living with Dementia in the Spalding area. There are some fantastic services here already and I hope that our Thursday session will be a welcomed addition. We had such a wonderful first session today and we’re all looking forward to next Thursday.’’
