Neale Court Care Home host veteran’s breakfast morning

Staff at Neale Court Care Home recently hosted a fantastic Veterans Breakfast morning to mark Armistice Day. Visitors to the home enjoyed a delicious full English breakfast prepared by Chef Ivon and the kitchen team.

“We were delighted to welcome local veterans to join us for a cooked breakfast at this special time of the year,” said Home Manager Keighley Moss. “We feel it’s so important to involve the local community with our care home and this was a wonderful opportunity to thank veterans for their service too.”

The team welcomed visitors from the Salvation Army and The Bomber Command Centre as well as veterans from the area. Residents were also delighted to be joined by ten RAF Air Cadets from the North Hykeham Squadron. The cadets were keen to help out by serving breakfast to the veterans before joining them to eat together.

“It was wonderful to see the cadets assisting in serving the veterans their breakfast and there was a great opportunity for the residents and guests to share stories and reminisce with the cadets.” said Wellbeing Coordinator Becky Bourke.

The breakfast was followed by speeches and a toast to remember the servicemen and women who have fallen in the line of duty since the first world war.

Some of the residents had been busy a few days beforehand, creating poppies for their window display, which provided a fantastic backdrop for the breakfast.

After the breakfast finished residents requested for the cadets to do a mini parade for them, which they were more than happy to do, this demonstrated their skills and guests commented on how wonderful and accommodating the cadets were.

Everyone who attended felt that it was a huge success, thanking the kitchen staff for the delicious breakfast.  The guests were extremely appreciative of the warm welcome and hospitality they received whilst being in the home.
