World Oral Health day at Somerset House Care & Nursing Home

Staff at Somerset House Care & Nursing Home in Wheldrake recently took part in World Oral Health day with an educational short quiz. ‘This coincides with CQC launching their Smiling Matters report showing how we are doing as a care system in supporting the oral health of those in their care.’

The importance of oral health within care

It’s really important to understand Oral Health as it’s a big part of the care we provide every day. To understand more about World Oral Health Day, we answered 10 short question. This was a great way to test people’s knowledge and potentially identify where further learning might be helpful within our home.’ Commented Home Manager Dipin Peter.

‘The quiz was a great opportunity to take part in as it taught us a lot about Oral Health. From this day I will take forward my knowledge and implement it into my day to day role as Senior Carer’ Commented Noeme Standish.

World Oral Health Day ‘Is designed to raise awareness of how we can support high quality oral care and the steps and resources available that make it personalised to the different needs of all those in our care.’ Commented Sam Varo from York Health and Care Partnership.
